It
was the 15th of August 1995 when, worked out by the Father José
Januario Moreira, came to life the Mater Ecclesiae (Mother
of the Church) Boychoir. Less then two
years after that it was admited to the International Pueri Cantores
Federation, whose headquarters are in Rom.
Known as The Boychoir
of Santa Luzia, the choir has 48 singers from 8 to 20 years
of age. From the Gregarian Chant, going through the sacred and profane
musics of the Renaissance, and on to the contemporaries folk and
popular songs, the Mater Ecclesiae has been an extraordinary blow
due to the outstanding human material found in the city. With the
usual formation of 4 voices they sing pieces up to 8 lines. Since
its fondation the choir has been directed by Mr. Cleber Vieira de
Castro having at his side the music teacher Mr. João Carlos
Rosolini,
